NE 165th Street Flood Risk Reduction Project

Project No.:  1127589
Project limits:  NE 165th Street between 179th Place NE and 183rd Place NE
Project type:  Flood/Storm
Thomas Bros. Map No.:  507E1

Project description

To raise the road elevation on NE 165th Street, between 179th Place NE and 183rd Place NE south of Cottage Lake, to alleviate routine flooding.

Why is King County doing this project?

NE 165th Street is located about 1.5 miles downstream of Cottage Lake Creek, is adjacent to the Basset Pond Natural Area, and bisects a Category 1 wetland. Cottage Lake Creek flows through the wetland and crosses the road before leaving the wetland. During rain events, NE 165th Street between 179th Place NE and 183rd Place NE becomes flooded and is subsequently closed as a result of its close proximity to these water features. The road is frequently closed most for the winter.

Project management phase:  Project On-Hold
