Project description

To permanently repair Westside Highway near Cove Road on Vashon Island after it was damaged as a result of a storm event in December 2015.

Why is King County doing this project?

As a result of the storm, the outside travel lane of the roadway sunk more than 10 inches deep and more than a lane in width, and a landslide and other drainage issues occurred. The road was temporarily fixed by repaving with asphalt. This project will repair the settling roadway and failing slope by constructing a curtain drain, drainage facilities, and stabilizing of the downhill slide slope. It also includes removing and replacing asphalt concrete pavement, removing and replacing the guardrail, striping and utility work.
