Dear Friends, Throughout this year, I’ve told you about the King County Heroes Employment Reintegration Opportunity (HERO) program, legislation that I was proud to sponsor.
On June 24, the members of the Council were joined by County Executive Constantine in celebrating the first graduating intern class. The 8 members were spread throughout the County, but there is one that I specifically want to introduce to you. Jay is 2012 graduate of the University of Washington double majoring in Law, Societies, & Justice and Political Science with a minor in Human Rights. And for the last six months, Jay has been interning with the County Council as part of the HERO program!
Jay was an ideal fit with the Council. During his internship, Jay helped Council staff with various duties that included drafting amendments, staffing committees, legislative analysis and reporting. Jay’s military background has instilled him with professionalism, commitment, and attention to detail that would be beneficial in any workplace—and I am proud to say the County Council has decided to hire our Jay, our HERO intern, as a full-time analyst! To learn more about these HEROs, here’s a YouTube piece put together by King County Television http://youtu.be/3mgnijIooAs If you’re a Vet or know a Vet who wants to participate in the HERO Program, call 206-205-5859 or visit https://your.kingcounty.gov/employees/HEROES for more information about the program.
