Dear Friends

Recently you may have received my spring newsletter in your mailbox; the newsletter is my way of updating you on the work being done at the County and to inform you about the important issues facing King County.

The newsletter also has a brief survey that I would encourage you to fill out and return to my office. The survey is also available on my website, KingCounty.gov/Dunn. I always encourage feedback from the residents of District 9 and I look forward to reviewing your responses. As your voice on the County Council knowing where you stand is vitally essential and helps craft my response on the challenges and concerns that come before me.

Please feel to e-mail me at reagan.dunn@kingcounty.gov or call my office at (206) 296-1009 if you have any questions regarding this or any other matter involving county government.

I also want to take a moment to update you on Squak Mountain and the plan to protect it from development.  This week, the County Executive and The Trust for Public Land announced the signing of a conditional agreement that seeks to purchase 216 acres of land on Squak Mountain near Issaquah –the first step in a partnership between King County and The Trust for Public Land aimed at buying and protecting the land for public use.

The plan calls for The Trust for Public Land to buy the property in February 2014, convey a portion of it to King County when the County has initial funds for a first phase of purchase, and hold the rest of the land until the County secures and the County Council approves all remaining funds to acquire it as part of the King County Parks system.

I will continue to advocate on behalf of this purchase and agreement just as I did earlier this year when I sent a letter to the King County Conservation Futures Citizens Oversight Committee expressing support of their purchasing of this 216 acres.  You can read my letter from February here.

This stretch is both a valuable habitat area and a source of recreation for people from around the region and I am very pleased to be a part of this important agreement.

Best regards,

Signature

King County Councilmember, District 9
