Honoring veterans

If you are in need of assistance with county government, please visit my website or call my office at (206) 477-1009

Tomorrow, I will be joining a solemn ceremony to honor deceased indigent King County veterans.

Some members of the armed forces that served their country passed while living on the streets of King County. For others, no relatives were located to claim their remains for burial. All of them served as soldiers, sailors, airmen, marines or coast guardsman and have earned proper military burials.

The public is welcome to attend and please take time to remember these service members in your thoughts and prayers.

The ceremony will take place at the Tahoma National Cemetery, 18600 Southeast 240th Street, Kent. The procession begins promptly at 9:15 AM and the service will include a full Veterans Service Organization Honor Guard comprised of members from the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Disabled American Veterans, Elks Club, and other organizations.

Veterans of the United States armed forces deserve to be recognized for their service and I hope many of you will find time to join me in doing so tomorrow.
