Dear Neighbor:
Thank you for taking the time to read my e-Newsletter. I am excited to share with you several of the upcoming events around our district in the coming weeks.
Flag Day
We have an incredible speaker lined up—General Peter Chiarelli, a retired 4-star general and former commander of Multi-National Corps in Iraq and Vice Chief of Staff of the U.S. Army.
This event is not only an opportunity to salute our Star-Spangled Banner, but also to recognize those who have served and continue to serve to protect our country, so please invite any veterans you know as well.
Although Flag Day is June 14th this year's celebration will be held June 8th at the Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way. A reception begins at 9:30 a.m., and the program runs from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. The festivities will take place rain or shine. I look forward to seeing you there!

 May's happenings
Federal National Little League
On May 4th I presented a Certificate of Recognition to the Federal Way National little League for providing athletic opportunities for children and creating volunteer opportunities and services for adults.
Federal Way Farmers Market
On Saturday May 11, I participated in the 2013 Grand Opening Federal Way Farmers Market. This year's opening represents a milestone for our local farmers market as we celebrated the 10 year anniversary of its founding. I was also pleased to recognize on behalf of the county the positive impacts local farmers and their products have in our community. It is important to raise awareness about supporting small family farms and maintaining an interaction between farmers and consumers.
Good Eggs breakfast with Sheriff John Urquhart
This week I hosted a round-table discussion with King County Sheriff John Urquhart and several south King County community and civic leaders. We discussed crime prevention, early child hood development and way's to address improved services to our unincorporated King County communities.
It has always been my top priority to be responsive to the needs and concerns of the constituents I serve.
